Electronic Art's brandy new COO

According to this press release (right here) John Pleasants was named Prez of Global Publishing and COO of EA.  Whilst John doesn't seem to have any gaming industry experience EA notes: " Throughout his career, Pleasants has established himself as a leader in consumer marketing, online, and technology."

Leader in "online" and "technology"?  Not sure what that means.

He *does* have experience with the Revolution Health Group, Ticketmaster and "key consumer marketing roles" with Frito-Lay.

Hmmmm..... I'll have to do some research, but Health Group?  Ticketmaster? **FRITO-LAY**??  Seems an odd fit for a position at this level.  Perhaps EA Chief Executive Officer John Riccitiello knows something we don't.  I'm sure he does.

Regardless Pleasants *must* have a lot of experience, wherewithal and apptitude in the online space having performed as CEO of Ticketmaster.  With that experience surely he can do great things in his new space.  I am very curious what impact someone with no direct industry experience will make on EA or who he will choose to head up any future teams.
